Knotting in Jewellery Making - learn simple spacer knots and decorative knots.

This first day consists of different knots to use in basic jewellery making. The simple basic knot for spacing many beads is used in the morning, and a decorative knot will be shown in the afternoon. For those wishing to explore more complicated decorative knots please contact us. Simple knots in Jewellery Making - learning the most basic knot

This knot is the most basic overhand knot to use as a spacer, divider or bead protector between beads. You will also learn sliding knots in this workshop. You will have plenty of time to practise then use your knots in a necklace or bracelet.

Decorative knots in Jewellery Making: Beginners experiment with fancy knots

To separate beads, or add that extra detail in either earrings or necklaces, decorative knots fulfill that function being both intricate and interesting. You will have plenty of time to try out some knots in silky cord (rattail) and use them in a piece of jewellery.
Jewellery Making: pearl knotting - making a knotted pearl bracelet or necklace

This course can be taken as a morning workshop making a bracelet or as a full day making a necklace. Pearl knotting is a skill and takes time to achieve. There is a specific starting routine and a different ending routine. There are 2 methods of knotting and we teach the more professional method which achieves more even results when mastered. Pearl knotting a bracelet - a very useful skill to have, both for yourself and to help relatives or friends.
You will be shown the formulas needed to calculate the amount of thread you will use, and how to lay out your work to be able to knot successfully. You will learn the specific start procedure and the way to knot successfully. The closing routine is different and uses a slightly different method. You will have time to finish your bracelet within the 3 hours.
There is plenty of choice of pearls and silk thread. Synthetic thread and glass pearls are available for vegetarians and vegans - please inform us if you prefer this option.

You will learn how to design a simple bracelet then make an elasticated and a bracelet with a catch. You will learn how to fix different types of catch, which and when to use them.

Beginners matching earrings - Match earrings to your jewellery or outfits.

In this beginners workshop you will either match / blend your earrings to the bracelets you have made in the morning or make earrings to blend / match / echo earrings to existing jewellery or an outfit you have. (Please note we cannot match every colour available!). Technical, design and colour matching help is given.

Beginners jewellery set: Experienced beginners necklace and earrings or bracelet
9.30 - 12.30, 1.30 - 4.30pm Saturday 25th February 2012, Lancaster UK. Venue directions are sent after booking.
This Beginners jewellery set is for those with some experience of jewellery making or they will not have time to finish their jewellery. If you have been to a necklace or bracelet course you will probably be able to manage this course. You will set your design and start making your necklace in the morning. You will be able to finish your necklace and make your matching earrings or bracelet in the afternoon. If you finish early you make be able to make a third piece of jewellery in the set.
